Richard Sherman, who is no stranger of throwing caution to the wind, vigorously campaigned for and won the fan vote for the next player to grace the cover of Madden NFL 15 video game. The Madden Cover Curse is a famous and well documented ... thing... so there were many fans that probably felt more comfortable voting for Cam Newton instead, but Sherman emerged with 56% of the vote. I'm not worried personally, because I don't believe in silly superstitions. So there.
"It's an unbelievable experience," Sherman said. "It's something you always dream about as a little kid. It's something you never expect to happen and it's a humbling experience to do it in front of all these great people and do it for the city of Seattle. It's fantastic."
Sherman, in good form, shouted out his teammates in his acceptance speech, which caps off a pretty good year for the All Pro cornerback, who won a Super Bowl, racked up endorsements, met the President, and became a globally-recognized brand.
"I've been pinching myself every day and it seems like it's still real life," Sherman said. "It's been a great experience to do it with my teammates, the Legion of Boom, Earl Thomas, Kam Chancellor, Doug Baldwin, Jeron Johnson, ... can I name them all? But man, it's been a fantastic experience, a fun run, and we're ready to do it again. "
