Jim Harbaugh’s jab at Seahawks rings hollow after Eric Wright trade | Shutdown Corner - Yahoo! Sports
The rivalry between Pete Carroll and Jim Harbaugh is well-documented, and goes back to a specific "What's your deal?" incident when both men were coaching in what was then the Pac-10. Now that Harbaugh has taken the San Francisco 49ers to a Super Bowl, and Carroll is firmly in charge of the super-buzzy Seattle Seahawks, it's safe to say that this NFC West competition has an unusual amount of enmity around it.
San Francisco 49ers – Niner Insider Blog – SFGate.com » Report: 49ers acquire CB Wright from Buccaneers
The 49ers acquired Buccaneers cornerback Eric Wright for a late-round conditional pick in 2014, ESPN reported Friday.
49ers Blog and Q&A: 49ers continue to load up at cornerback, trade for troubled Eric Wright
Wright is now one of four 49ers to be charged with DUI in the last year and a half. The others are Aldon Smith, Demarcus Dobbs and Al Netter. The timing of the Wright trade raises questions, especially since Jim Harbaugh warned players late last month to stay out of the police blotters during the seven weeks before training camp begins. Rookies reported for camp today; veterans will report Wednesday. What's more, Wright was suspended for four games during the season for violating the league's performance-enhancing drug policy. He tested positive for Adderall, he said at the time. (You may have heard that Harbaugh recently tweaked the arch-rival Seahawks for their rash of allegedly Adderall-related suspendions). Wright's contract recently was renegotiated, and the 49ers are on the hook for $1.5 million this season.

Intriguingly, Wright began his college career at USC playing for current Seahawks coach Pete Carroll before leaving there following the 2004 season when he was arrested (but never charged) on suspicion of rape, eventually transferring to UNLV.

Allow me to put you in John Dorsey’s shoes. After more than a decade with the Green Bay Packers, Dorsey was hired by the Kansas City Chiefs to turn around a talented but poorly coached roster that lacks a lifeblood. That lifeblood is the quarterback position, the most important position of all in football, if not any sport. Last season it was manned by an ineffective Matt Cassel, who was given the boot upon Dorsey’s arrival. That led to Dorsey looking at all his other options, which were admittedly limited.
