Michael Sam draws plenty of eyes to Missouri pro day. | SportsonEarth.com : Russ Lande Article
It may sound odd, but the expression most used to describe Missouri's pro day was "organized circus." The entire Missouri football department deserves kudos for keeping everything running efficiently and on time despite the craziness surrounding the day. A few years ago, when the Tigers had two players, Blaine Gabbert and Aldon Smith, selected in the top 10, there were more NFL people in attendance, while this year's showcase counted significantly more attendees overall from NFL people, to media and players' friends and family.

49ers drafting for need -- next season and beyond | CSN Bay Area
The time to draft for need is a year or two before there’s a need. With that in mind, here’s where the 49ers should look in this year’s draft:

James Starks' deal is worth $3.165 million
The process: Tight end Jermichael Finley is at least two months away and maybe several months more from being in position to sign with a team, a source familiar with the situation said this week. Finley, one of the 10 unsigned players on the Packers' unrestricted list, visited Seattle on March 12. John Schneider, who was scouting for the Packers when they drafted Finley in 2008, is the Seahawks' general manager. The Seahawks thanked Finley for coming and informed him in so many words to stay in touch after the passage of time would presumably mean additional healing for his bruised spinal cord, according to sources. Obviously, the Seahawks' opinion will circulate among teams because they were the first club Finley visited.

That could include visits to the Seahawks and/or Panthers, both of which are interested in Britt. It could entail a second visit to the Rams, Patriots, Redskins, and/or Bills.

FOOTBALL OUTSIDERS: Innovative Statistics, Intelligent Analysis | Momentum vs. Confidence
Hey there, readers. We apologize for the lack of new content lately. We're busy finishing cleaning up our 2013 game charting and dealing with some other things, and the Adjusted Games Lost numbers are coming soon. In the meantime, I was cleaning out my old e-mail and came across this e-mail discussion between Football Outsiders staff members that took place right after the Colts' legendary comeback against Kansas City in the first round of this year's playoffs. It brings up some interesting points about the concept of momentum, and how it relates to player confidence, and what that might mean in a sport where there are 22 men on the field at the same time. I'm putting it out there for you to all discuss in the comment thread.
